CHURCH REDEDICATION PLANNED
It was 100 years ago in 1915 that people gathered at St. James Church in Cooperstown to offer a Mass dedicating the newly constructed St. James Church. After a horrific fire destroyed the church built of wood just one year earlier, it was time to celebrate together as a community. On Saturday, July 11, 2015 the congregation will gather again in the now 100 year old brick church to rededicate the church. Father Ron Colombo, former pastor, will preside at a 4:00pm Mass followed by a pot-luck picnic on the parish grounds. There will be a historical display with many items of memoribilia from years past, along with music by the CRS Band, a newly formed combo of talented parish members. Ice cream will be served just as they did one hundred years ago.
