Milestone Markers

A ministry to infants, preschoolers and their parents is offered to all families who have achild baptized at St.James.  Begun in 1996, the Milestone Marker program focused on ways parents can help their children through the earliest years of faith formation. In 2018, a new initiative called Parent Letters began.

Each year, on the child's birth date, a flier is mailed to the parents with ideas and suggestions for sharing faith.  The first year flier, for example, talks about bedtime rituals and the importance of bedtime prayers.  At the second birthday, as the child approaches the "Terrific Two's" the focus is on giving choices to encourage acceptable options.  Mealtime prayers are easily picked up by a three year old, and ideas abound for the third birthday.

On the child's baptismal anniversaries, a congratulatory letter is mailed to the child with a coupon redeemable for a special "Baptism Anniversary Gift" from St. James Parish. (Parents are advised that gift coupons may be redeemed at the sacristy following weekend masses.)

This program enables parish members to live out the promise they made at the time a child is baptized to support the parents in teaching their child about our faith.  Children are automatically enrolled in the program at the time of their baptism.  The coordinator of the program is Patty Bekkers.

The Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary

Hail, Mary! Full of grace, The Lord is with thee, Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
