Religious Education Program

Mission Statement

Using Jesus as our guide, we support the total education of the whole person, through programs promoting a life of prayer and ongoing formation of faith.

Partnership with Parents

Parents, you are the primary influence in the development of your child’s religious faith.  We thank you for allowing us to participate in the Christian formation of your child(ren). We can only hope to spark an interest and enthusiasm that you will continue to develop, nourish, and nurture in your own homes. Students’ attitudes towards Holy Mass, the Sacraments, prayer, service to others, and their commitment to Jesus will grow from your examples and everyday family experiences.  We will do our best to provide your child(ren) with religious education and prayerful experiences, that we  pray will grow in a deeper faith relationship with God our Father and Savior.

Program Information

Enrollment in St. Joseph's Religious Education program for students in grades 1 through 12 is open to parish and non-parish members.  Our  2019-2020 program fee for parish members is $65.00 per student and $80.00 per student for non-parish members.  Tuition assistance is available.  Please contact the parish office at 920-732-3770.

Classes are held Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm in the Parish Religion Education Center starting September 4th through March 25th.  Click here for a complete list of dates.

Students are required to attend the scheduled sessions in order to move to the next grade level.  Yearly attendance will be required in order to receive all sacraments.  Missing an entire year of classes will require the student to make up the missed curriculum.

First Reconciliation - 2nd Graders prepare and receive the sacrament of Reconciliation prior to receiving First Eucharist.  The sacrament will be experienced in November.

First Holy Communion - 2nd Graders prepare to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion the first Sunday in May.  Parents and Guardians will be required to attend scheduled meetings prior to students preparations for both Reconciliation and Holy Communion.  Parents are also asked to assist the Catechist in these preparations.

Confirmation - Students in Grade 12 and older will receive the sacrament of Confirmation.  Students will be given a detailed set of guidelines, and a text book for use in preparation to be shared with parent/guardian/sponsor.  Candidates must experience a retreat, and do with their class, community volunteer hours as directed by their instructor.  They must also be interviewed prior to the Confirmation ceremony.

Prayer for our Children
O Lord, Build us children whose hearts will be clear, whose goals will be high;
Children who will master themselves before they seek to lead others;
children who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.
And after all these things are theirs, we pray,
enough of a sense of humor, so that they may always be serious,
yet never take themselves too seriously.
And may we, their teachers, labor with you in this building,
that we may one day say, "I have not lived in vain."

The Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen

Hail Mary

Hail, Mary! Full of grace, The Lord is with thee, Blessed are thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen
